Embracing More Conscious and Responsible Fashion at the “Conscious Fashion 2025” Event
July 22, 2025

President University once again hosted an inspiring seminar titled Conscious Fashion 2025 on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2025, at the PUCC FabLab. The event featured Dino Augusto as the keynote speaker, who encouraged students from various majors to reflect on their roles as fashion consumers in today’s world. Through an insightful and interactive session, the seminar aimed to raise awareness among the younger generations about the importance of choosing and consuming fashion products wisely, sustainably, and responsibly.

In his presentation, Dino highlighted the critical issue of fast fashion culture, which drives a buy-and-discard pattern fueled by social media trends and peer pressure. He explained how the fashion industry has shifted from producing two seasonal collections per year to 52 weekly collections, driven by market demand and mass production technology. This shift has led to severe consequences, including increased textile waste, labor exploitation, and irreversible environmental damage. He cited the tragic collapse of a factory in Bangladesh as an example of how profit often takes the lead over sustainability in the current system.

To conclude, Dino invited participants to initiate change through small, mindful steps: buying fewer clothes, extending the life of their garments, and choosing quality items that reflect their personal identity. He emphasized that conscious fashion does not have to be expensive or brand-new to express who we are. Sustainable style not only benefits the environment but also enhances mental well-being and strengthens social connections. This seminar served as a timely reminder that sustainable living is not just a trend, but a necessity for the future. (Roffizul H, PR Team. Photo: Roffizul H)
