July 15, 2026

Tuesday, 19 May 2026 — During the President Club Series titled "Strengthening National Resilience in the Era of Artificial Intelligence" at the Menara Batavia President Lounge, Nezar Patria, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, discussed Indonesia's opportunities and challenges in developing a competitive Artificial Intelligence ecosystem.

Nezar explained that Indonesia has one of the world's highest rates of generative AI adoption among knowledge workers. However, he noted that the country remains at an early stage in the global AI supply chain and has yet to establish strong capabilities in areas such as semiconductor development and AI computing infrastructure.

According to Nezar, Indonesia's strategic natural resources, including nickel, cobalt, and rare earth minerals, present valuable opportunities to support the global AI industry. He emphasized that these advantages must be supported by clear technological leadership, strong regulations, ethical AI governance, and continuous digital talent development to ensure Indonesia becomes more than just a market for emerging technologies.
