Collaboration with AI as the Key to Future Innovation
September 17, 2025

The development of artificial intelligence technology, particularly generative AI, has brought significant changes to the world of work and education. This was conveyed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ford Lumban Gaol, S.Si., M.Kom., SMIEEE, a lecturer at Bina Nusantara University who previously taught at President University in the early 2000s, during a session titled “ChatGPT and the Future of Work,” held at Fablab Jababeka on 17 September 2024. According to him, AI is no longer just a term, but a reality that shapes the way we create, interact, and compete on a global scale. The fact that ChatGPT reached 100 million users within only two months of its launch strongly demonstrates the profound impact this technology has on modern life.

In his presentation, Prof. Ford emphasized that the use of AI should not stop at mere copy-paste practices. Instead, the true value lies in the human ability to refine, interpret, and add personal touches to AI-generated outputs. Some of the most affected areas include customer service, marketing, and creative content production, ranging from storytelling to brainstorming. However, he highlighted that the most fascinating aspect is how AI is revolutionizing the field of education. “We can use AI, but we must read, review, and modify,” he remarked, stressing the importance of new skills such as communicating with AI as one of the key competencies of the 21st century.

In conclusion, Prof. Ford asserted that AI is not a threat that will entirely replace human jobs. On the contrary, this technology will give rise to new professions and open opportunities that were previously unimaginable. With an open mindset and readiness to adapt, today’s generation can harness AI not merely as a tool but as a partner in driving innovation. This reflection serves as a reminder that the future of work will not be determined by those who oppose AI, but by those who can collaborate with it wisely. “The future of work will not be determined by those who oppose AI, but by those who can collaborate with it wisely.” (Roffizul H, PR Team.
