On Friday, June 21, 2024, the Accounting Study Program, Faculty of Business, President University (Presuniv), held a seminar in collaboration with Orix Indonesia Finance, a Japanese finance company operating in Indonesia. The seminar aimed to enhance the financial literacy of participants. The seminar was held in the Charles Himawan Auditorium, Building A, 5th Floor, Presuniv Campus on Jl. Ki Hajar Dewantara, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang, was themed “Next-Gen Finance: Diving into Digital Money, Loans, and Investments.” The seminar’s main speaker was Patrick Kevin Aritonang, SE, MBA, Treasury Division Head of Orix Indonesia Finance. Other notable attendees from Orix Indonesia Finance included Ade Vidonta Ginting, Head of HRD and a 2007 Presuniv alumnus, and Michaell Richardus Whisnu Bhramantya, who is currently working as Corporate Planning Division Head.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Iman Permana, BS(PE), MM, Dean of the Faculty of Business, stated, “Financial literacy is extremely important. In this digital era, everything becomes easier. However, without financial literacy, one might lose money without understanding why.” He emphasized that for students entering the business world, such knowledge would be invaluable for the future.

The importance of financial literacy has grown with the rise in online loans and gambling, which have ensnared many users. “According to reports, many people borrow money from online lenders to use in online gambling. This is very dangerous for their financial health,” Patrick warned. He further explained that credit scores, derived from one’s consumption behavior, now play a crucial role. For those looking to expand their businesses, their credit score will determine their ability to secure loans. Hence, Patrick emphasized the importance of maintaining individual financial health.
