On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, President University (Presuniv) held a seminar titled How to be Successful Amidst Global Challenges: Transformational Leadership and Cultural Changes Required, featuring Haryanto T. Budiman, Managing Director of Consumer Banking at PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BCA). The seminar took place in the Charles Himawan Auditorium, Building A, 5th floor, Presuniv Campus, Jl. Ki Hajar Dewantara, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang, and was moderated by Dr. Dra. Fennieka Kristianto, SH, MH, MA, M.Kn., Dean of the Faculty of Law at Presuniv.

In his opening remarks, Handa S. Abidin, SH, LL.M., Ph.D., Rector of Presuniv, noted, “Typically, those with PhDs pursue careers as lecturers, professors, researchers, or scientists. But Mr. Haryanto is different.” A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States, Haryanto chose a career in banking. “And now Mr. Haryanto serves as Managing Director of Consumer Banking at BCA, one of the largest banks in Indonesia. His experience is truly something we can learn from,” said Handa.

Haryanto discussed several changes currently affecting the global economy, one of which is the transition from non-renewable to renewable energy. This shift requires significant investment and a long-term timeframe. “This change demands a new structure for energy use,” he explained.

In addition to sustainability-related changes, Haryanto highlighted that the criteria for today’s workforce have evolved. Workers now need to be flexible in their roles. “Working is not like studying at university,” he emphasized. To succeed, one must possess leadership skills and a variety of soft skills. “Most importantly,” Haryanto stressed, “we need integrity and values.” (Graciella V, PR Team. Photo: Graciella V)
