Building a Successful Career: Insights from BlueScope’s Sisilia Samina
March 14, 2025
Friday, March 14, 2025 – President University’s Architecture study program recently hosted a guest lecture featuring Sisilia Samina, CHRP, CHRBP, Talent Management & Learning Manager at BlueScope. The event offered students valuable insights into time management, personal branding, and career readiness, addressing pressing concerns such as skill gaps, job expectations, and workplace readiness.

Sisilia shared her perspective on the importance of a balance between formal education and real-world experience. She encouraged students to focus on developing their skills, learning new languages, and gaining hands-on experience through projects and events. These practical experiences not only build confidence and competence, but also demonstrate initiative and adaptability to potential employers, qualities that are highly valued in today’s dynamic job market. She also underscored the importance of maintaining a professional online presence, as many Human Resource professionals review social media profiles during the recruitment process.

A key highlight of the session was her advice on time management. Sisilia urged students to prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, while also emphasizing the value of being proactive and setting realistic job expectations. She further highlighted the importance of building meaningful professional relationships, stating, “Your career is your own. If you limit yourself to just your job description, you’ll miss opportunities to grow.” (Rachel V, PR Team. Photo: Graciella V)
