Saturday, November 23, 2024, the President University Major Association (PUMA) Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, President University (Presuniv), in collaboration with Relogica, organized a seminar titled LEAN GO TO CAMPUS: Maximize Your Knowledge, Minimize Your Effort. The seminar featured Mark Reich, an expert from the Lean Enterprise Institute, who shared insights on strategies to enhance work efficiency. The event was held at D’Khayangan, Jl. Taman Golf Timur I No. 100, Cikarang, Bekasi, the event served as a practical learning platform to understand and apply Lean principles.
In his presentation, Mark Reich emphasized the importance of problem-solving as the core of the Lean approach. “Lean is not just about efficiency but about fostering a culture of continuous learning at every organizational level,” he explained. Reich outlined four main principles of Lean: humility to keep learning, starting with real problems, focusing on wasteful activities, and simultaneously developing people and management systems. He also shared his experience assisting major companies, such as GE Appliances and Microsoft, in enhancing productivity through Lean practices.
Teuku Mirwan Saputra, an alumnus of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at Presuniv and the seminar’s moderator, highlighted that problem-solving skills and the use of the English language are vital for competing in the workforce. “This seminar reminds us that effectively solving problems is the key to simplifying work,” he stated.
Participants actively engaged in activities like the Work Observation Analysis Sheet and video case study analysis during the seminar. These interactive methods enabled attendees to not only grasp Lean principles theoretically but also apply them directly in their respective work environments.
