Friday, 13 February 2026 — President University continued its guest lecture series on competition risks in commercial contracts at the Charles Himawan Auditorium, President University Campus, Jababeka City. The session featured Albert Boy Situmorang, S.E., S.H., LL.M., Partner at Assegaf Hamzah & Partners.
During the lecture, Albert explained that commercial business activities often involve complex legal considerations. In the session, he focused on the importance of mitigating restrictive clauses in agreements that may limit fair competition within the market.
He noted that such clauses are commonly used by companies as a strategy to protect their market share or maintain business relationships. However, he emphasized that these provisions must be structured carefully to ensure they do not violate competition regulations. “This may seem common to protect a company’s market share, but there are rules that must be considered carefully. Advice that initially appears beneficial can become a legal problem,” he stated.
He further warned that overlooking these legal boundaries may carry serious consequences for businesses. Legal disputes or violations related to competition law could undermine the credibility that companies have spent years building.
