On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, President University hosted a public lecture themed “The Future of Learning: How AI and Digital Literacy are Reshaping Basic Education.” The event took place at the Fablab on the first floor of the President University Convention Center (PUCC), Kota Jababeka – Cikarang. The keynote speaker, Prof. Abdul Mu’ti, M.Ed., the Indonesian Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, addressed the rapid technological advancements transforming how students learn and how educators must adapt. He noted that AI has changed how information is accessed and used, raising concerns over digital reliance and declining reading habits. “Now we hear terms like ‘professor download’ or ‘doctor download,’ but this doesn’t guarantee accurate knowledge,” he warned.
In response, the Indonesian Ministry of Education is preparing to integrate AI into the national curriculum starting in the 2025/2026 academic year. AI will be introduced as an elective subject alongside other 21st-century skills such as coding, but only in schools with sufficient infrastructure. Prof. Mu’ti also stressed the importance of nurturing creativity—something AI cannot replicate—as it remains key to innovation and staying relevant in a tech-driven world. (Rachel V, PR Team.
