This is an annual event that we started in 2017, and continues every year. If in the first three years we held the conference offline, in 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we did it online. For this year, our conference will be held on a hybrid basis.

The phrase about the third-generation curse does not only exist in China but also in various other countries. In the US, for example, there is an expression, "from shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations." In England, the expression "clogs to clogs is only three generations," while in Japan, it says "rice paddies to rice paddies in three generations." The meaning is more or less the same, namely from coolies back to coolies, from clogs back to clogs, or from starting from farmers back to being farmers. It all happened in the third generation.
