I have been planning to study abroad ever since I joined PresUniv

Annisa Harovanta, a Management Study Program student, President University (PresUniv), was selected as one of the recipients of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) scholarship program organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. The IISMA program aims to provide rights and opportunities for students to carry out self-development activities outside their original campus.

The IISMA selection process consisted of two stages, namely administrative selection and interview. In order to apply for this program, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.00, a language proficiency certificate, a letter of recommendation from the university, and students must come from a university under the supervision of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. More than 3,500 applicants attended this program. These applicants will be selected into 2,000 participants to participate in the following process, the interview, and next will be selected again to 1,000 who pass this program.

By passing the IISMA selection, Annisa has the opportunity to study for one semester at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taiwan. Annisa said she is excited to be one of five PresUniv students selected to join this program. She said that she has been planning to study abroad, either through summer camp or student exchange programs, since she studied at PresUniv. “I am interested in joining this program because the time is compared to summer camp, although it is shorter than student exchange. The IISMA program is very suitable for sixth-semester students like me,” she said.

Annisa said that she had no problem with the university or the destination country of this program. The choice is more on the courses offered by IISMA partner universities. According to Annisa, NTUST offers courses that match her interests. Even though she comes from the Management Study Program, Annisa will take courses more related to communication. “I will probably take four courses from different study programs. This is also following the advice from IISMA.”

According to her, English proficiency must be carefully prepared to register and pass this program. “Some of them were not passing the selection because their English test scores are not enough. GPA must also be maintained as good as possible because this requirement is essential to be able to pass, in addition to the results of the interview," she explained. Annisa also shared other tips. For application, essays have to be made as good as possible. For achievement targets, please do not overdo it and do not make irrational plans. "All of that will be asked in detail at the interview," she said.

Based on information from IISMA, students who pass the selection will register at the destination university and be given directions for departure. Students will leave for their destination countries in September 2021. Awardees of the IISMA program will get several facilities, such as tuition and registration fees, transportation allowances, living expenses allowances during the program, health insurance, visa allowances, and PCR tests.
