Writing articles or papers for scientific journals is challenging. Not only for lecturers, but also for students. To help students who have difficulty making articles or papers, the Law Study Program (Prodi), President University, held an online lecture entitled "How to Get Your First Journal Article Publsihed", Friday (13/11). Speakers at this public lecture were Tody Sasmita Jiwa Utama, SH, LLM, editor of the Journal of Mimbar Hukum from Gajah Mada University, and Alfeus Jebabun, SH, MH, editor of the journal Dictum.
According to Yance Arizona, SH, MH, MA, a lecturer at the Law Study Program, President University, this online lecture is not only intended for students, but also lecturers. He said, "So far, lecturers often give assignments to students to make articles or papers, but without a special format. Online lectures are expected to encourage lecturers to assign paper writing assignments to students in accordance with the journal format." The hope, continued Yance, that the articles written by students are ready for publication, or at least ready to be sent to scientific journals.
The online lecture, which is part of the Legal Reasoning and Research Methodology course activities, was also attended by students from other subjects, such as Agrarian Law, Commercial Law, and Financial Technology. Through this lecture, Yance hopes that President University students can write scientific journals even though they are still students. Prodi Hukum President University Dorong Mahasiswa Menulis Jurnal Ilmiah
Menulis artikel atau makalah untuk jurnal ilmiah masih menjadi tantangan tersendiri. Bukan hanya bagi dosen, tetapi juga mahasiswa. Untuk membantu mahasiswa yang mengalami kesulitan membuat artikel atau makalah, Program Studi (Prodi) Hukum, President University, menggelar kuliah online bertajuk “How to Get Your First Journal Article Publsihed”, Jumat (13/11). Pembicara pada kuliah umum ini adalah Tody Sasmita Jiwa Utama, SH, LLM, editor Jurnal Mimbar Hukum dari Universitas Gajah Mada, dan Alfeus Jebabun, SH, MH, editor pengelola Jurnal Dictum.
Menurut Yance Arizona, SH, MH, MA, dosen Prodi Hukum, President University, kuliah online ini tidak hanya ditujukan untuk mahasiswa, tetapi juga dosen. Katanya, “Selama ini dosen sering memberikan tugas kepada mahasiswa untuk membuat artikel atau paper, namun tanpa format khusus. Kuliah online diharapkan dapat mendorong para dosen untuk memberikan tugas penulisan paper ke mahasiswa yang sesuai dengan format jurnal.” Harapannya, lanjut Yance, artikel yang ditulis mahasiswa sudah siap dipublikasi, atau paling tidak siap untuk dikirim ke jurnal ilmiah.
Kuliah online, yang merupakan bagian dari kegiatan mata kuliah Legal Reasoning dan Research Methodology, ini dihadiri juga oleh mahasiswa dari mata kuliah lain, seperti Agrarian Law, Commercial Law, juga Financial Technology. Melalui kuliah ini, Yance berharap, mahasiswa President University dapat menulis jurnal ilmiah meski mereka masih berstatus mahasiswa. Kemampuan ini penting untuk meningkatkan portofolio mahasiswa di kemudian hari. (GN/SL)
