Published: 15 Jul 2020

An alumnus of International Relations at President University batch 2013, Alfachreza Azure attended the Alumni Sharing Session that was held online recently. Reza managed to get a scholarship from the Russian Government to pursue a master's degree at the People's Friendship University of Russia. Reza shared his knowledge about International Relations and his university life at President University until now he is studying in Russia.

According to Reza, in the context of International Relations, foreign languages are important. This has also become the reason why he chose President University. He mentioned that English as the medium of learning activities at President University and an international environment that allows him to interact with friends from various countries, has contributed greatly to the advancement of his language proficiency and skills. Reza who is currently majored in Global Security and Development Cooperation said that the mastery of foreign languages is to protect ourselves and the nation. "We must learn foreign languages so that if there are other people or nations who want to threaten Indonesia, we can better understand the problem," Reza said.

While studying at President University, including classroom activities and internship program, Reza drew one important conclusion, which is building specialty. In building this specialty, high consistency is needed. Reza himself has always been actively involved in various organizations at the university and national level with the same position, where everything is related to communication, both with internal and external parties. He also chose an internship that could develop his communication skills, including an insurance company, Prudential Indonesia and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This all he did to build one special skill, namely communication. According to him, building a specialty in a particular field gives us added value that will be highly considered by the company.

Reza closed his session with the story of his experience applying for a scholarship program in Russia. "The scholarship was available only for 161 people including postgraduate, postgraduate, and specialist programs. Russian scholarships have 3 steps of selection, namely administration selection, interview, and final selection. Russian scholarships usually open information in the first month of December and the selection starts in January," he said. "If you are interested in Russian scholarships, you can immediately come to the Russian Cultural Center in Jakarta because they will provide you comprehensive guidance," he added.

People’s Friendship University of Rusia.
