Following the rise of COVID-19 status as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), President University has moved all classes online. Through the Rector Regulation President University Number 8 Year 2020, in-person classes would be conducted online starting from 16 March 2020 until the end of Even Semester 2019/2020 (3 May 2020). The moving affects all subjects learned by approximately 5000 students in 16 undergraduates and 2 graduate programs.
The regulation was made to enforce the ‘social distancing’ that is being encouraged by the state and health authorities. “With all academic activities carried out online, we want to limit interaction and prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, the Rector of President University.
In the Rector Regulation, students are encouraged to return to their home and conduct online classes from their own home. Jony also reminded students to take care of their health while enjoying their e-learning activities at home.
All non-academic student activities are also postponed, including the university’s annual sports competition, Sport Olympiad of President University (SOPU).
Through the university’s official social media account, President University mentioned that their top priority is everyone's health. Therefore, the university will closely monitor the current conditions and make decision based on public health guidance from authoritative sources. Ubah Semua Proses Belajar Mengajar secara Online, President University Mewajibkan Mahasiswa untuk Belajar di Rumah
Menyusul peningkatan status COVID-19 sebagai pandemi oleh Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO), President University memberlakukan kelas online untuk semua mahasiswanya. Melalui Peraturan Rektor Presiden Universitas Nomor 8 Tahun 2020, kelas tatap muka akan diubah menjadi kelas online mulai dari 16 Maret 2020 hingga akhir semester genap ini (3 Mei 2020). Perubahan ditujukan untuk semua mata kuliah yang diikuti mahasiswa dari 16 jurusan S1 dan 2 jurusan S2 di President University.
Peraturan ini dibuat untuk mempraktekkan ‘social distancing’ yang sedang digalakkan oleh pemerintah dan otoritas kesehatan. "Dengan semua kegiatan akademik dilakukan secara online, kami ingin membatasi interaksi dan mencegah penyebaran COVID-19," ujar Rektor President University, Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto.
Dalam Peraturan Rektor tersebut, siswa didorong untuk melakukan kelas online dari rumah mereka masing-masing. Jony juga mengingatkan siswa untuk menjaga kesehatan mereka dengan baik sambil tetap semangat menjalani kegiatan e-learning mereka di rumah.
Semua kegiatan mahasiswa non-akademik juga ditunda, termasuk kompetisi olahraga tahunan, Sport Olympiad of President University (SOPU).
Melalui akun media sosial resminya, President University menyebutkan bahwa prioritas utama mereka adalah kesehatan sivitas akademikanya. Oleh karena itu, universitas akan memonitor kondisi saat ini dan membuat keputusan berdasarkan panduan kesehatan dari pihak-pihak yang berwenang. Universitas juga telah mengambil beberapa tindakan pencegahan yang akan terus dikomunikasikan secara berkala melalui email prevention.covid19@president.ac.id, website, dan media sosial kampus. (SL)
