Cikarang, Indonesia – On Monday (22/5), President University invited Prof. T. Basaruddin, Drs., M.Sc., Ph.D., The Executive Director of BAN-PT (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi), a bureau that is responsible for accreditation process for higher education institution in Indonesia. In this visit, he talks about the actual issues of BAN-PT policies on the accreditation of study program and institution.

In this occasion, Prof. Basaruddin (who is also known as Prof. Chan), presented the number of the accredited higher education institutions in Indonesia, the weakness of the recent accreditation process, and the development of the accreditation process in 2018.

“I can say that the accreditation in Indonesia is still in a window dressing type. It (accreditation) is no longer a need, but it has becoming a responsibility. This makes most of us put the dust under the carpet when the accreditation process takes place just to make everything look clean, but actually it is not”, said the leader of BAN-PT.

Attended by many important names in the higher education industry; Prof. Ermaya Suradinata, former Governor of Lemhannas and Board of Trustee of President University, Makmur Heri Santoso, Chairman of APTISI (Asosiasi Perguruan Tinggi Swasta Indonesia), Wawan H.S., Chairman of ADI (Asosiasi Dosen Indonesia), Dwi Larso, Ph.D., Vice Rector for Academics of President University, the deans and head of study programmes in President University and also the higher education institutions of Kopertis IV, Prof. Basaruddin spent two hours interacting with all the audiences.

More on it, some participants who attended the event were also questioning some of the policies of BAN-PT on recruiting an assessor, the scoring instruments, etc.

Moderated by the Rector of President University, Dr. Jony O. Haryanto, the event went on to be a very interesting discussion. Prof. Basaruddin showed his gratitude for being invited to come to President University and to share about the accreditation policies in Indonesia. (AA)
