On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, President University (Presuniv) held an international conference  ‘Building Universities in Leading Disaster (BUiLD) Resilience 2023’, with the topic of Indonesia's Disaster Resilience Strategy at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta. At this conference, Presuniv collaborated with other universities who are also members of the BUiLD consortium, Erasmus+ from the European Union, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The conference was attended by academics from various domestic and foreign universities, government circles, business people, communities, and the media, commonly known as pentahelix.

The conference presented a number of speakers. They were the Director of Learning and Student Affairs. Dr. Ir. Sri Gunani Partiwi, MT, from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology; Dr. David Rubens, Executive Director of The Institute of Strategic Risk Management (ISRM) based in Virginia, United States of America; Dr Ir. Udrekh, SE, M.Sc., Director of Mapping and Evaluation of Disaster Risk from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB or Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana); Rahmawati Husein, MCP, Ph.D., a member of the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC) expert council who is also the Head of the Environment and Disaster Management Agency (LLHPB) Aisyiyah Central Management. This conference was hosted by Nadine Sulkowski from the University of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, who is also the project lead for Erasmus+ and BUiLD Resilience.

This conference emphasized the importance of higher education in participating in building a disaster-resilient and responsive Indonesian society. "We are currently facing rapid change. Disasters, pandemics, and other crises are becoming more frequent. In these conditions, the role of universities is very important," said Dr. Fennieka Kristianto, SH, MH, MA, M.Kn, Secretary Director of Presuniv. Sri Gunani added, "Higher education can play a role in preparing competent human resources, namely human resources who are resilient to disasters and are able to reduce their impact by utilising a science and technology-based approach.
