Utomo Josodirdjo, Father of Indonesian Accounting, breathed his last on Monday, November 28 2022. Utomo Josodirjo's passing was a loss for President University (PresUniv). Because Utomo, together with the Chairman of the Jababeka Group SD Darmono and Prof. Juwono Sudarsono, PhD (Minister of Education and Culture (1998-1999), Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia (19990-2000 and 2004-2009)) is one of the founders of Presuniv.
Utomo is called the Father of Indonesian Accountants because of his dedication and role in changing the Indonesian accounting system from initially adhering to the Dutch model to the American model. He also received The Whole Life Achievement Award from the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia, in 2012. Throughout his career, Utomo was also a pioneer in establishing the Accounting Study Program at Airlangga University and founder of the accounting firm SGV Utomo & Co. by cooperating with SyCip Gorres Velayo & Company (SGV) from Manila.
The story of Utomo's life journey is told in the book A Journey Through Time: The Memoir of Utomo Josodirdjo. In the book review event, which was held on Wednesday, January 22 2020, Darmono, the moderator at the session, said, "This is the best biography book I have ever read. I think Pak Utomo's life experience in advancing the world of accounting and producing well-known quality human resources in Indonesia can inspire all students and lecturers," he said.
