The Internship & Career Center (ICC) Bureau, in collaboration with the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program (PSTE), President University (Presuniv), held a webinar entitled 21st Century Online Teaching Skills. The webinar on Monday (17/10) invited speaker from PT Smart Digital Nusantara, known as Cakap. Led by Tamara Nesya, Academy Coach Cakap, this webinar was filled with sharing from Shanty Ria Kusnaeni, Education Team Lead at Cakap. Ani Pujiastuti, Ph.D, as the Head of PGSD Study Program Presuniv, said that this topic is very important for teachers or pre-service teachers. “Given that after the pandemic everything changed, a lot of teaching went online. So, we teachers have to learn a lot more skills, especially about technology,” she said.

In the session, Shanty said that even though she has been teaching for 10 years, she was still in shock with the changes that had occurred due to the pandemic. According to her, almost all teachers experience this. She shared, “At first we didn't know what to do. It takes a lot of adaptation. And the hardest part is planning the activities that need to be done.” Another challenge is when problems occur in class. Shanty said, actually the methodology is still the same, only the approach or strategy is different because they have to use an online platform.

Fortunately now everything is much easier, because she has adapted. Even by teaching online, as she is doing at Cakap today, she can actually benefit a lot. She explained, “Because Cakap  is fully remote learning, I can work from anywhere and anytime. I can meet students from various provinces in Indonesia. Even from Papua. Therefore the  scope is wider.” Then, because Cakap is a start-up company, Shanty also shared tips for students who want to work in start-ups, which are to be able to work fast, be flexible, and have a growth orientated mindset.
