Mechanical Engineering Study Program students, at President University (PresUniv), introduced an electric car called EGO (Electric GoKart), Monday (27/6). This EGO was developed by the PresUniv Mechanical Engineering Study Program Project team, which consists of two students, namely Marwan Nabildan class of 2019 and M. Fachri Maulana class of 2018. They are guided by lecturers of Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Nanang Ali Sutisna, M.Eng, and Dr.-Eng. Lydia Angraini, as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Study Program.

The presentation took place offline in the lobby of Building A, PresUniv Campus, the two students took turns introducing the product they were developing. “The EGO is an electric vehicle designed using a tubular frame. This design is very suitable for the manufacture of vehicles, because it has the best strength to weight ratio in frame design," explained Marwan. He further highlighted  the EGO’s design features. He said, "This vehicle is designed with a 2,000 Watt electric motor that can drive the EGO up to a speed of 40km/h and uses four batteries with a capacity of 45 Ampere, so it has a range of up to 40 kilometers."

Meanwhile, Fachri explained the key differences between EGO compared to other similar designs. “The EGO has two chassis front and rear. This is to put the shockbreaker between the front and rear chassis, because the EGO does not use suspension rigs, but single suspension," he said. He added, “The tires are different too. The front tires use Vespa Scooter tires and the rear tires are golf cart tires. The goal is that when turning, the steering wheel does not feel heavy because of the small Vespa tire tread. As for the rear tires these act as a counterweight." As the person in charge, Lydia said that the electric car project was in line with the desire to support government programs related to the development of new, renewable energy and energy conservation.
