Tuesday (19/4), The Faculty of Business, President University (PresUniv), held a sharing session with Dr. Richard Lim, senior vice president for Asia Pacific at  the Gottesman Company, New York, as well as an expert on entrepreneurship, hospitality, and tourism. Attending the event were, Maria Jacinta Arquisola, BA, MHRM, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Business, heads of the study programs, lecturers, and students from the Faculty of Business.

During the sharing session, Dr Richard emphasized that networking is an important component of the business world. “The ability to build a network cannot be learned in class. It needs to be developed independently," he said. Then, how can fresh graduates build their networks? According to Dr Richard, fresh graduates must stay in touch with their classmates, even though they have graduated. Later your classmates will  be work  in many  different industries. "By maintaining this relationship, you will have a start of a network a in multiple industries and it is possible to further expand on this over time," explained Dr Richard. He added that recent graduates can join various clubs or communities, especially alumni associations, to further expand their networks.

On this occasion, Richard also shared his experiences in the field of entrepreneurship. He said, there are two keys to doing business, namely, to keep on striving and be the willingness to take risks. In addition, to be successful, someone who wants to start a business must also have experienced failure. “Entrepreneurs usually go through many stages in life. Sometimes success, sometimes failure. We must be able to take advantage of that failure to move forward and achieve success,” said Richard. (Gilang Suryanata, PR team. Photo: Gilang)
