President University (PresUniv) and World Tourism Day Indonesia, held a virtual talk show entitled "Global Trend that Impacts Indonesia's Travel and Tourism Industry, Post Pandemic-Covid 19", Friday (27/8). This virtual talk show presented four speakers, namely Maria Jacinta Arquisola, Ph.D., MHRM, Dean of the Faculty of Business PresUniv, Ir. H. Maulana Yusran, MBA., Msc., Secretary-General of the Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restoran Indonesia, Norbert Vas, CHA, Vice President of Business Development Archipelago International, and Bahriyansyah, Secretary-General of the Association of The Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA). Meanwhile, Dr. Josep Ginting, S.E., M.M., Vice Rector for Business Development of PresUniv, and Nia Niscaya, MBA., Deputy for Marketing, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, gave remarks at this event.

In her speech, Nia said, global travel trends have changed towards tourism carrying capacity, individual travelers, health protocols, and short to medium haul. "At present, tourists are no longer considering prices or sights of tourist attractions, but the health protocols that exist at the destination," she said. To that end, the government has several programs, such as preparing a new normal protocol in the tourism and creative economy sectors, destination readiness, especially in the CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability) protocol, as well as building public trust, increasing interest, and attractiveness.

Nia said the government is also trying to provide supplies, such as the readiness of tourist destinations, implementation of CHSE, tourist attractions, quality of human resources, quality and quantity of creative products, and stimulus for the tourism industry. In line with that, according to Jacinta, it is essential to improve the quality of human resources in tourism. “Sometimes there are still tour guides who do not understand the advantages, beauty, and potential of the area. In addition, foreign language skills other than English are also required,” she explained.
