To build a business, an entrepreneur needs to pay attention to many essential aspects, including crowdfunding and innovation. So what exactly are these two things? To discuss it, the Master of Technology Management, President University (PresUniv), held a webinar entitled “Harnessing the Power of Entrepreneurs to Open Innovation and Crowdfunding” on Monday (19/7). The material was delivered directly by Hong Sin Kwek and Yu Zhi Wei, guided by Dr. Ir. Tatang Akhmad Taufik M.Sc. Tatang is a lecturer in Master of Technology Management, PresUniv.
The first speaker was Hong Sin Kwek, the CEO and Founder of Sinwattana Crowdfunding Corporation Ltd. In her session, Hong said that entrepreneurs need to pay attention to five principles in the crowdfunding system, which are donations, gifts, rights, debt security, and loans. These were based on her experience when building her company. Besides, some procedures must also be understood before applying for crowdfunding. “First, we must know what product we want to fund, and how much it will cost. After that, find out who are the target investors, what are the benefits of the product that want to be financed, and the advantages of the product," she explained.
Then the second speaker was Yu Zhi Wei, the Founder of Thinkspace. In this webinar, Yu conveyed the importance of entrepreneurs becoming innovative individuals. According to him, being innovative means being able to develop new things and have value. “An example is the change from society 4.0 to society 5.0, where changes occur from the economic, cultural, to environmental sectors. Therefore, we must continue to innovate in order to adapt to existing developments," he said. He also added that continuous innovation would produce more effective solutions in the future.
