A thesis is often becoming a worry for college students, especially final year students. Even sometimes, when doing a thesis, students experience confusion, especially in the data processing. Therefore, the Management Study Program, President University (PresUniv), held a One Day Workshop about Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for students who will and are doing their thesis, on Saturday (17/7).

The material in this workshop was delivered by Johan Krisnanto Runtuk, S.T., M.T., Lecturer of Industrial Engineering Study Program, PresUniv. Krisnanto opened the presentation by explaining beforehand what SEM is. He said that SEM is a statistical tool commonly used for complex models. He also explained that SEM is divided into two, namely Covariance-Based (CB) and Partial Least Squares (PLS). "The difference between the two is in the calculation and application," he said. This first session is specifically filled with explanations about SEM and the differences between CB-SEM and PLS-SEM, which will be directly practiced in the second session.

The second session started after the lunch break with data processing exercises and direct consultation between Krisnanto and students. "If they have finished distributing the questionnaires, they can even process the data directly here," said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dra. Genoveva, M.M., Head of Management Study Program, PresUniv. This workshop was held for the third time by the Management Study Program. Genoveva hopes that students can have alternatives for their statistical tools other than SPSS in doing their thesis through this workshop. (Silvia Desi Betrice, PR team. Photo: Silvia)
