The world of work is very different from lectures. Campus world is a beautiful world. There is only black or white. Meanwhile, the world of work is a world filled with gray. This was conveyed by Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, Rector of President University (PresUniv), in the 5th episode of the M Goes to Campus Talkshow together with Dr. Ir. Rachmad Imbang Tritjahjono, MT, Director of Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban). This talkshow was hosted by Hermawan Kartajaya, Founder and Executive Chairman of Markplus Inc.
M Goes to Campus is an inspiring talk show by presenting representatives from various universities throughout Indonesia. This event aims to provide inspiration and an entrepreneurial point of view, leadership, innovation and creativity, especially in the higher education environment in Indonesia. This talkshow focused on how prepared students are in facing the world of work. Prof. Jony said, "Currently we are not only competing with fellow national universities, but also internationally." To face these challenges, continued Prof. Jony, there are several competencies that universities and graduates must have, such as the ability to speak English or more than one language, have work experience through internships or having their own business, agility and multitasking.
Agree with Prof. Jony, Rachmad Imbang also emphasized that internship and agility must be possessed by every graduate when entering the world of work. "Through internships, students can learn and improve their soft skills. So, they do not only absorb knowledge on campus, but also at their place of internship. Dunia Kampus Hitam Putih, Dunia Kerja Abu-abu
Dunia kerja sangat berbeda dengan perkuliahan. Dunia kampus adalah dunia yang indah. Hanya ada hitam atau putih. Sedangkan dunia kerja adalah dunia yang penuh dengan warna abu-abu. Demikian disampaikan Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, Rektor President University (PresUniv), dalam acara Talkshow M Goes to Campus episode ke-5 bersama dengan Dr. Ir. Rachmad Imbang Tritjahjono, MT, Direktur Politeknik Negeri Bandung (Polban). Acara talkshow ini dipandu oleh Hermawan Kartajaya, Founder and Executive Chairman Markplus Inc.
M Goes to Campus merupakan talkshow inspiratif dengan menghadirkan perwakilan dari berbagai perguruan tinggi di seluruh Indonesia. Acara ini bertujuan memberikan inspirasi dan sudut pandang kewirausahaan, kepemimpinan, inovasi dan kreativitas, khususnya di lingkungan pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia. Talkshow kali ini fokus pada bagaimana kesiapan mahasiswa dalam menghadapi dunia kerja. Kata Prof. Jony, “Saat ini kita tidak hanya bersaing dengan sesama perguruan tinggi nasional, tetapi sudah international.” Untuk menghadapi tantangan tersebut, lanjut Prof. Jony, ada beberapa kompetensi yang harus dimiliki oleh perguruan tinggi dan lulusannya, seperti kemampuan dalam berbahasa Inggris atau lebih dari satu bahasa, memiliki pengalaman kerja yang, antara lain, diperoleh melalui program magang atau mempunyai usaha sendiri, serta agility dan multitasking.
Senada dengan Prof. Jony, Rachmad Imbang juga menegaskan bahwa magang dan agility harus dimiliki oleh setiap lulusan saat berada memasuki dunia kerja. “Melalui magang mahasiswa dapat belajar dan meningkatkan softskill mereka. Jadi, mereka tidak hanya menyerap ilmu di kampus, tetapi juga di tempat mereka magang. Ini penting sebab softskill akan selalu terpakai selama mereka bekerja,” ujarnya. (Gilang Suryanata, tim PR.
