On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, Handa S. Abidin, S.H., LL.M, Ph.D., was inaugurated as the new Rector of President University (Presuniv), succeeding Prof. Dr. Chairy. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Charles Himawan Auditorium, 5th floor of Building A, President University Campus in Jababeka Education Park, Kota Jababeka, Cikarang, Bekasi. The ceremony was witnessed by DR SD Darmono, Chairman of Jababeka Group and founder of President University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Susilo Soepandji, DEA, Chairman of the Foundation for the Education of the President University (YPUP), Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, Advisor to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for Innovation, foundation executives, and Jababeka directors.

            Also present at the inauguration was Dr. Drs. Chandra Setiawan, MM, Ph.D., who is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of YPUP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Joko Santoso, Director-General of Higher Education (2010-2012) and Rector of ITB (2005-2010). Alongside them were Ibnu Hadi, M.Ec, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Vietnam (2016-2020), and Abdul Wahid Maktub, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Qatar (2003-2007), who are serving as advisors to the President University Rector. Among the invited guests was Prof. Stephen G. Barnes, a law professor from Pennsylvania State University, USA, former Rector of President University, YPUP executives, President University business partners, alumni, and other distinguished guests.

            During his inaugural address, Handa emphasized that Presuniv will continue to improve its performance, play a more significant role in diplomacy and generate foreign exchange through the field of education. "One of our efforts in this regard is to attract even more international students from various countries worldwide to study at President University," said Handa. He highlighted the opportunity, stating that for six consecutive years, from 2017 to 2022, Presuniv has been the university with the highest number of international students at the undergraduate (S1) level in Indonesia. With an increasing number of international students studying at President University, Dr. Handa further explained, "Our continuing efforts to engage in foreign diplomacy and generate foreign exchange through the field of education are producing results."
