Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the Charles Himawan Auditorium of President University (Presuniv) Adam Kurniawan Library, socialized stunting from a psychological perspective. Stunting is crucial because it can disrupt the potential of human resources and is related to the level of health, even child mortality. Indonesia is one of the countries with a high stunting rate.

"Stunting does not mean just "people with short stature," but short stature caused by non-optimal health conditions, namely long-term malnutrition, especially in the first 1000 days of life," said Haris Herdiansyah, S.Psi., M.Si, lecturer at Presuniv Communication Program.

Nevertheless, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia has announced the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) results. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia has dropped from 24.4% in 2021 to 21.6% in 2022.

So according to Haris, here are some preventive actions that can be taken to avoid stunting in children, namely, meeting nutritional needs since the mother's pregnancy, providing exclusive breastfeeding, providing healthy food, routinely monitoring child growth, and always maintaining environmental hygiene.
