The Buddies President University (PresUniv) team became the first winner in the Industrial Engineering Scientific Competition (IESC), Saturday (11/9). The Buddies team consisted of Putu Aulia Pranagita, Ibrahim Iskandar Chairullah, and Henrikus Banu Alyodya. All of them are students of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, PresUniv, batch 2019. IESC is an international competition that is open to all Industrial Engineering undergraduate students from Indonesia and abroad. This year, the theme of IESC is Business Resilience: The Continuity of Businesses to Grow Amidst The Uncertainties in a Post Pandemic Industry.
This international competition is held from June 4 to September 9, 2021, with three rounds, namely the preliminary stage, semifinals, and finals. Putu said that the semifinals were divided into two stages, namely the first and second stage. “The First Stage consisted of a written-based test individually and in a team, as well as a mini case. Meanwhile, the second stage was in the form of a simulation-based test," she explained. In the final round, the Buddies team was given a business case challenge. "We have to do an analysis and propose a business solution to the judges," she added. In this competition, the Buddies team managed to beat 50 other teams.
Putu revealed that she and her colleagues entered the competition with limited knowledge, so they did not have high expectations, including winning. “However, we ultimately chose not to give up. That is what made us the first champion in this competition," she said. Putu hopes that she can bring other achievements on behalf of the Industrial Engineering Study Program in the future to make herself, her family, study program, and university proud. Through this competition, the Buddies team also managed to get a prize of US$1,500. (Gilang Suryanata, PR team. Photo: Doc. Buddies team)
