Dr J. Soedradjad Djiwandono Seminar on: Recent Global Crisis and Policy Responses - A Critical Assessment

On Wednesday, April 14, 2010 President University welcomed Prof. J. Soedradjad Djiwandono to the main campus. He was the speaker at the seminar on the recent global crisis and policy response – a critical assessment.
Prof. J. Soedradjad Djiwandono is a Professor of Economics, at the University of Indonesia (UI), and a Professor of IPE, at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), he is a graduate from the school of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

He had a long career in the government of Indonesia. He was Bureau Head in the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). He also served as Assistant Minister Coordinator, State Minister of Trade, and most currently he was the Governor of Bank Indonesia during the era of the late President Soeharto.
He also authored several books published in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. It was a great honor for President University to welcome him as the speaker in the seminar.

Prof. Dr. Ermaya Suradinata, SH, MH, Msi – the Rector of President University, and Mr. Syonanto Wijaya – The Chairman of the President Foundation, Vice-Rectors, Deans, lecturers, and businessmen attended the seminar, together with hundreds of students.
The seminar was opened by speeches from The Rector and the Chairman of the President Foundation, who remarked that the opportunity presented by Prof. J. Soedradjad Djiwandono was a prestigious event for the students of President University.
During his two hour seminar, Prof. J. Soedradjad Djiwandono enlightened the audience with the causes and costs of the recent global financial crisis, from the point of view of an expert, who is not only a researcher, but also an insider with years of experience in banking and governing.
He also expressed his personal views regarding the policies responding to the crisis in comparing the 2007-2008 crisis with the 1997-1998 crisis in Indonesia.
The seminar was a great opportunity for the lecturers and students of President University to understand thoroughly about the current crisis, which has inspired further research and studies in macroeconomics, banking and finance.
