Jakarta, Indonesia — President University hosted the Principal and Vice Chancellor of The University of Glasgow, Prof. Anton Muscatelli in a seminar themed “Opportunity to Become Global Education Player” at Menara Batavia, Jakarta (25/4). The event was attended by Setyono Djuandi Darmono, The Chairman of PT. Jababeka Tbk and Founder of President University, Prof. Budi S. Soepandji, The Chairman of President University Foundation, Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, The Rector of President University, Prof. Frank Coton, The Vice Principal of Academic and Educational Innovation and Dean for South East Asia, and other distinguished guests. The seminar was moderated by Prof. Scott Younger, International Chancellor of President University.

Prof. Anton Muscatelli talked about challenge that needs to be faced by a global education player. Ability to adapt to the current situation is an important key to be a global institution.

“The changing nature of work and changes in technology make us need to adapt to the current situation and how specific the changes we need to make,” said Anton.

He also believes that growing research income shows how serious an institution in developing innovations. One of the indicators of a leading global institution is contribution to the society through its research.

As a global institution, it is needed to develop all the existed elements started from accepting international student, attracting best prospected students, upgrading the internal system, and adapt to the changes.

Being asked about the seminar by The University of Glasgow, Jony expects that both of the institutions would establish a stronger relationship.

“I hope with this visit could strengthen the relations between President University and The University of Glasgow, furthermore we will have many programs such as joint research, faculty exchange, student exchange, double degree program, and so on,” stated Jony. (SL)
