Retail Insight Seminar: A Closer Look on Offline and Online Retail Business

Cikarang, Indonesia — Business Administration Study Program of President University held a seminar called “Retail Insight Seminar” in Charles Himawan Auditorium, President University (5/4). The seminar attended by I Ketut Adi Putra, Vice President of Finance and Costumer Management of Berrybenka, Albert Palit, Head of Campaign and Creative of PT. Matahari Department Store Tbk, and Prof. Dr. Ajay Chauhan, Dean of Faculty of Business of President University.

Retail Insight Seminar is a part of “Retail Business Seminar” subject in President University and aimed to give a bigger picture of retail business by learning directly from retail practitioners.

The event was opened by remarks from Prof. Dr. Ajay Chauhan on the advantages of offline and online retail business. He also added that online retail is increasing significantly year by year.

Furthermore, I Ketut Adi Putra delivered an overview on E-Commerce business in Indonesia. Indonesia has a big market potential, in 2-3 year later, its growth can be increase significantly. One of the supporting factors is the penetration of smartphone which is also increasing.

“E-Commerce business in Indonesia is only 1% of the total retail business. From 100 transactions, only 1 transaction done by online, compared to China and USA, they have reached more than 10% of total online transaction, so the potential is very huge”, said Adi.

The second speaker, Albert Palit talked about different aspects of retail business. He added that basically offline and online principle is the same which is to market the product. As the world go digital, the offline retail opens the online version of its business in order to follow the market and consumer behavior.

“I hope the audiences get better insights on the offline and online retail business and be able to differentiate the offline and online strategies in order to build a good retail business”, said I Nyoman Krishna Dananjaya, Project Manager of the seminar. (SL)


Cikarang, Indonesia — Program Studi Administrasi Bisnis President University menyelenggarakan seminar yang bertajuk “Retail Insight Seminar” dan bertempat di Charles Himawan Auditorium, President University (5/4). Turut hadir dalam seminar ini, I Ketut Adi Putra, Wakil Presiden Bidang Keuangan dan Manajemen Pelanggan Berrybenka, Albert Palit, Kepala Bidang Kampanye dan Kreatif PT. Matahari Departement Store, dan Prof. Dr. Ajay Chauhan, Dekan Fakultas Bisnis President University.

Seminar ini merupakan bagian dari mata kuliah “Retail Business Seminar” di President University yang bertujuan untuk memberi wawasan yang lebih luas mengenai bisnis retail dengan belajar secara langsung dari para pelaku retail.

Acara dibuka oleh sambutan dari Prof. Dr. Ajay Chauhan yang berbicara mengenai keunggulan dari online dan offline retail. Beliau juga menambahkan bahwa online retail mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan dari tahun ke tahun.

Selanjutnya, I Ketut Adi Putra menyampaikan overview mengenai bisnis E-Commerce di indonesia. Indonesia memiliki potensi pasar yang besar, dalam kurun waktu 2-3 tahun kedepan, potensi pertumbuhannya akan naik secara signifikan. Hal ini salah satunya dikarenakan penetrasi dari smartphone yang juga meningkat.

“Bisnis E-Commerce di Indonesia hanya 1% dari total ratail. Dari 100 transaksi yang terjadi, hanya 1 transaksi yang menggunakan online. Jika dibandingkan dengan Cina dan USA, mereka sudah mencapai lebih dari 10% total transaksi online, jadi potensinya itu besar sekali”, ujar Adi.

Kemudian, Albert Palit berbicara mengenai berbagai aspek dari bisnis retail. Ia menambahkan bahwa pada dasarnya prinsip dari offline dan online retail itu sama, yaitu untuk memasarkan suatu barang. Seiring perkembangan zaman yang sudah digital, maka offline retail pun turut membuka versi online dari bisnis mereka agar bisa mengikuti pasar dan perilaku konsumen.

“Saya harap peserta bisa mendapatkan pengetahuan yang luas mengenai bisnis offline dan online retail, serta bisa membedakan strategi yang dapat diimplementasikan pada bisnis offline dan online retail agar dapat membangun bisnis retail yang baik”, ujar Krishna. (SL)
