Prof. Dr. Nena Padilla-Valdez is currently a lecturer in the Faculties of Humanities and Management at President University, Indonesia. Her main research interests and publications are in the areas of eco-tourism and cultural preservation, learner diversity and learning engagement, pedagogy, empowerment and reflective practice, early childhood care and development, and school counseling.

She is an AKEPT Master Trainer of Trainers, module writer, and researcher on ‘Learner Diversity’ and inclusive teaching, and a primary trainer of vocational education enhancement program for chief executives and educators of Cambodia, Bangladesh, and the Philippines, to name a few. 

Prior to her current position, she charted more than 30  years experience in the academe holding various positions as a Vice President for Academic Affairs, Continuing and Alternative Education Director, Guidance and Counseling University Head, and Teacher Education Supervisor on top of a handful of ministerial and external designations as a book writer-evaluator and multi-media instructional materials evaluator of the Department of Education, an ETEEAP Technical Panel of the Commission of Higher Education, Philippines, and a consultant locally and abroad on TVET Ladderized Education, Ford Foundation-Assisted government projects, and equivalency and alternative programs in Hongkong, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines. She graduated a Bachelor of Science degree in General Science, masters in Guidance & Counseling, and a doctorate in Development Studi

Education


She obtained her Ph.D. in Development Studies, Magna Cum Laude, at the University of Sto. Tomas, Manila, Philippines; completed her Master of Education (MAEd) in Guidance and Counseling at Saint Mary’s University after fulfilling the core subjects in Master of Science (MS) in Counseling at De La Salle University, Taft Manila, Philippines; and achieved  post-graduate certificates in Inclusive Education from St. Louis University Baguio City, Philippines, Pedagogy from the Catholic University of Louvain-SMU Belgium Twin Programme and Early Childhood Education & Development from Ateneo University. For her undergraduate studies, she graduated Bachelor of Science, major in General Science and minor in English.
