Farid obtained his bachelor's degree in Chinese Studies from the University of Indonesia in 2000. During 2000-2011, he developed a professional career as a journalist, a political analyst at the British Embassy (Jakarta), and Deputy Information/Reporting Manager at the American Red Cross (Banda Aceh), respectively. Subsequently, he continued his study to Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore and earned a Master in Public Administration in 2012. He attended a course on modern diplomacy at the National Government Institute (London, 2008) and project management (Sri Lanka, 2010). Farid also joined a research team at the Asia Competitiveness Institute (Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, 2012), and fellowship at the National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (Lemhannas RI, 2015).
