Chairy is a Professor of Management. He holds a PhD in Management from Universitas Indonesia. His research fields are in consumer behavior, branding, retailing, and green marketing. His research topics focus on green consumption, hospitality and tourism marketing, and customer brand engagement.  His work has appeared in Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing & Logistics, International Review on Public & Nonprofit Marketing, Journal of Islamic Marketing, International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management, Cogent Business & Management, Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology & Behavior, SAGE Open, Journal of Ethnic Foods, Problems & Perspectives in Management, Organizations & Markets in Emerging Economies, among others.

Chairy has been invited to serve as a reviewer for several Scopus-indexed journals in the field of business and marketing such as Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services (Elsevier), Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics (Emerald), Journal of Religion and Health (Springer), and Frontiers in Psychology.
