Cikarang, Indonesia - President University hosts the Ambassador of The Democratic People of Republic of Korea (DPRK), His Excellency An Kwan Il, on Monday (17/4) in Charles Himawan Auditorium, President University. In this event, His Excellency An Kwan Il gave the students of International Relations Study Program of President University a lecture on "Neutrality in Korea Peninsula".

 

"President University thanked His Excellency An Kwan Il for giving a lecture to our International Relations Students. His Excellency An is a really friendly person and though we just met and know each other today, I felt like I've known him many years ago when we talked. There are collaboration possibilities with the universities in Pyongyang (DPRK) that PresUniv would like to build. We are offering full scholarships to DPRK and will plan to visit Pyongyang to establish the good relationships", said Dr. Jony O. Haryanto, The Rector of President University in his opening speech.

His Excellency An Kwan Il gave a narration on the history of DPRK that was established in 9 September 1949 and how did the North and South Korea divided as the result of the interference from the external countries and the cold war that took place since World War II.

"DPRK aims to initiate reunification of the North and South Korea through confrontation as one of the peaceful solutions to counter the cold war system", explained His Excellency An Kwan Il.

On the nuclear energy development, he added that the nuclear energy that DPRK possess will not be used to attack other countries. DPRK is very open to share the knowledge of nuclear energy development.

"If Indonesia wants to collaborate in utilizing nuclear development/atomic power plant, why not?" said An Kwan Il.

The event was attended by Dr. Jony O. Haryanto, The Rector of President University, Drs. Teuku Rezasyah, M.A., Ph.D., The Dean of School of Humanities of President University, Hendra Manurung, S.IP., M.A., Head of International Relations Study Program of President University, and moderated by Dr. Ho Ppi Yoon, one of the lecturers in International Relations Study Program of President University, and other lecturers of IR President University.
