The ability to adapt to our surrounding is very important. Due to this reason, President University Major Association (PUMA) of Communication held their first international event, Chinese Students Meet Indonesia Culture (CMIC). This event was aimed to facilitate the international students, especially Chinese students at President University to get to know Indonesian and help them adapt to live in Indonesia.

Initiated by Mr. Riyanto Adji M. M. Si., a Mandarin (Hán yù) lecturer in President University, this event is held in order to change the stereotypes that Chinese people are exclusive, arrogant, and don’t want to mingle with Indonesian people and culture. CMIC was conducted at Charles Himawan Auditorium in President University on Saturday, April 18, 2019. The theme “3M: Menampilkan, Menyampaikan, dan Menginterpretasikan” was chosen to present Indonesian culture to the foreign student in fun ways such as sharing session, games, talk show, and performances.

This event was attended by Indonesian and international students of President University such as Vietnamese, Mongolian, Timorese, and Chinese. There were special guests from Padjajaran University, Chinese students who are studying language literature concentrating in Bahasa Indonesia. During the talk show, they shared the struggle and happiness of living in Indonesia.

“With this event, I hope we can help the Chinese student mingle well and decrease the gap, so we can build a conducive environment in President University,” said Emmanuel, the Project Manager of CMIC 2019. See you again in CMIC 2020!! (MS/CA)
