In the effort to be the bridge between teachers in recognizing the students with special needs in class, Elementary Teacher Education (ETE) study program President University held a seminar titled “Handling Inclusive Class” which took place in Charles Himawan Auditorium, President University (11/12). The seminar attended by Anna Pinasthika,  S.Psi, S.Pd, M.B.A.,Psikolog (Psikolog and Founder of Yayasan Lotus), Prof. Dr. Slameto (Professor, President University), Dr. Endi Haryono (Dean School of Humanities President University), Grace A.A Neolaka, M.Pd (Head of ETE study program President University), and dozens of participants from various background in Greater Jakarta area.

The seminar discussed the existence of children with special needs in the classroom, treatment that can be given by teachers for children with special needs in the classroom, and the role of counseling for students to be able to accept the existence of children with special needs in an inclusive environment, especially in class.

"It is hoped that through this seminar, education practitioners, especially teachers in elementary, middle and high school can be provided with a more comprehensive understanding of students with special needs. I hope they are ready to become 21st-century educators who can see every need of students and become educators who do not impose a method but instead facilitate all the needs of students," said Grace Neolaka.

In addition to students and lecturers of the ETE study program, many other participants from various institutions attended the event such as teacher of BK Sudarso Karawang High School, teacher of SD Yos Sudarso Karawang, Prof. University. Dr. Hamka, Universitas Buana Perjuangan Karawang, Litte Bee Kindergarten, Three Little Angel, SPS Tunas Mekar VIII, and KB Permata Hati.


Dalam upaya menjadi jembatan untuk para guru dalam mengenali anak-anak berkebutuhan di dalam kelas, Program studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD) President University menyelenggarakan seminar yang bertajuk “Handling Inclusive Class” yang diselenggarakan di Charles Himawan Auditorium, President University (11/12). Seminar dihadiri oleh Anna Pinasthika,  S.Psi, S.Pd, M.B.A.,Psikolog (Psikolog dan Pendiri Yayasan Lotus) dan Prof. Dr. Slameto (Profesor bidang pendidikan President University), Dr. Endi Haryono (Dekan Fakultas Humaniora President University), Grace A.A Neolaka, M.Pd (Ketua program studi PGSD President University), serta puluhan peserta yang berasal dari berbagai kalangan di daerah Jabodetabek.

Seminar tersebut mengupas tentang keberadaan anak berkebutuhan khusus di dalam kelas, penanganan yang dapat diberikan oleh guru kelas bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus di dalam kelas, dan peran bimbingan konseling bagi peserta didik untuk dapat menerima keberadaan anak berkebutuhan khusus di dalam lingkungan inklusif khusunya di kelas.

“Diharapkan melalui seminar pendidikan ini praktisi pendidikan terutama guru kelas di SD, SMP, maupun SMA dapat dibekali dengan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif mengenai peserta didik dengan kebutuhan khusus. Saya harap mereka siap menjadi 21st century educator yg mana dapat melihat setiap kebutuhan dari siswa dan bisa menjadi educator yg tidak memaksakan suatu metode, tapi sebaliknya memfasilitasi semua kebutuhan siswa,” ungkap Grace Neolaka.

Selain mahasiswa dan dosen program studi PGSD President University, banyak peserta lain yang hadir dari berbagai institusi seperti Guru BK SMA Yos Sudarso Karawang, Guru SD Yos Sudarso Karawang, Universitas Prof. Dr.  Hamka, Universitas Buana Perjuangan Karawang, Litte Bee Kindergarten, Three Little Angel, SPS Tunas Mekar VIII, dan KB Permata Hati.
