Cikarang, Indonesia - Saturday 22nd July 2017 at Jababeka Convention Center, Cikarang was held graduation ceremony President University. S.D. Darmono (Founder of President University and Jababeka Group), Prof. Dr. Uman Suherman, AS., M.Pd (Coordinator of Kopertis Region IV), Sidarto Danusubroto (Member of Presidential Advisory Council), Dr. Scott Younger, ODE, FICE (International Chancellor of President University), and Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, SE., M.M., M.A (Rector of President University).

The theme of the graduation is “Building a Creative Workforce in the Era of Innovative Technologies”. According Erwin Sitompul, Head Committee of Graduation Ceremony and Dean of School of Engineering President University, the theme was chosen to enlighten the graduates that in this modern era which marked by the revolution in the field of information and computing, things that become a limit for a person to contribute are not only physical strength and thinking power anymore, but also brilliant ideas that need to be realized.

The event was opened by remark from Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto followed by scientific oration from Sidarto Danusubroto.

In his scientific oration themed Pancasila, Young Generation, and World-Class Higher Education, he stated that the diversity possessed by Indonesia is a unique and rich thing. Diversity in Indonesia is an USP (Unique Selling Proposition), uniqueness with high selling value. This differentiation becomes an important factor to build greater nation. Indonesia needs to develop the values ??of Pancasila as living values ??and national identity.

It is not enough for Indonesia to produce a bright young generation, but also deep-rooted with solid nationalist spirit ones. Statistics shows that fewer than 50% of the students go to higher education in Indonesia. Meanwhile, in 2014, there are about 36,000 of more than 4 million Indonesian students studying abroad. Therefore, it is needed to have world-class university to attract foreign students to come and study in Indonesia.

The international-standard education system becomes one of the most important indicator of whether or not Indonesian universities can compete in the international level. According to Sidarto, the basic factors of the internationalization that need to be improved by a university are human resources, collaborative research, and infrastructure. In addition, he also added three basic strategies of university’s internationalization, which are: internal consolidation, horizontalism, and global collaboration.

‘I hope President University possesses a high commitment to contribute in improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia in order to compete in the international level’, closed Sidarto ended his scientific oration.

Furthermore, performance of Tari Piring, Jasmine Dance, Gamelan, Orchestra, and Choir from President University students add festive atmosphere to the graduation ceremony this year. Moreover, three representatives of the graduates performed a song as a tribute to the fellow graduates, parents, and all people who come to the event.

President University graduated 789 students this year from undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, where 65 of the graduates are foreign students. This is the highest graduation rate that President University ever had.

“I hope all graduates can have a role in improving the welfare of the society, always relevant, and become the solution for the surrounding”, Said Erwin.
