Jakarta, Indonesia – President University once again wrote a history in one of the national-scale academic competitions through the Nine Values Team which consists of Jessica Meilina, Kelvin, and Tantyo Edo, the batch 2015 students of Industrial Engineering Study Program, President University who won the second place in Industrial Engineering Competition of Atmajaya (IECA) 2017. They are the youngest team who ever won in this competition and sucessfully overpowered some other reputable universities in Indonesia like University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, and Atmajaya Catholic University. An event that took place in the Atmajaya Catholic University, Semanggi, Jakarta (14/7), was held by Industrial Engineering Students Union of Atmajaya Catholic University. IECA was held as a simulation media to for its participants to face the real competitions in the real world, to build and develop personal abilities, and to increase the mental qualities of the students. There were also two representatives from PT Astra Honda Motor Plant 3 Cikarang who came as cases’ provider and juries in the event.

Before the competition began, there was an online test participated by 41 teams from many universities in Indonesia, where only 15 teams were chosen as the semi-finalists. Even though every university is allowed to send up to five teams to the competition, President University only sent one team. Jessica Meilina, Kelvin and Tantyo Edo created their own team called “The Nine Values” with the approval from Ir. Andira Taslin, M.T the Head of Industrial Engineering Study Programme.

The event went for four days from July 11 until 14, 2017, which includes; 1st and 2nd Semifinal Presentations, Gala Dinner, The Top Five Announcements, The Top Five company visit to PT. Astra Honda Motor Plant 3 Cikarang, Final Case Study Work, Final Presentation and finally, the Winner Announcement.

Tantyo Edo explained that after they joined the competition, they realized that PresUniv’s Industrial Engineering Study Programme is as good as other reputable universities in Indonesia. However as a second year students, they have to go deeper into the materials given for the next semesters, in order to compete with the representatives from other universities who are mostly on 3rd and 4th year.

“We do hope that the qualities of the supporting facilities in Industrial Engineering Study Programme can be increased and that the study methods can be focused more on practical activities with the use of modern applications”, said Edo. (YE)


Jakarta, Indonesia – President University kembali menorehkan sejarah di salah satu kompetisi akademik berskala nasional melalui Tim Nine Values (Jessica Meilina, Kelvin and Tantyo Edo) mahasiswa/i dari program studi Teknik Industri angkatan 2015 President University yang memenangkan peringkat ke-2 dalam Industrial Engineering Competition of Atmajaya (IECA) 2017. Tim Nine Values President University merupakan tim termuda yang pernah menang di kompetisi ini dan berhasil mengungguli beberapa universitas ternama di Indonesia lainnya, sebut saja Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, dan Universitas Katolik Atmajaya. Acara yang bertempat di Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya, Semanggi, Jakarta (14/7) ini diadakan oleh Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Industri (HTMI) Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya. IECA diadakan sebagai wadah simulasi untuk berhadapan dengan persaingan yang sesungguhnya di dunia nyata, membangun dan melatih kemampuan diri serta untuk meningkatkan kualitas mental dari mahasiswa/i. Ada dua perwakilan dari PT. Astra Honda Motor Plant 3 Cikarang yang datang sebagai pemberi kasus dan juri tamu dalam acara tersebut.

Sebelum kompetisi dimulai, terdapat tes online yang diikuti oleh 41 tim dari berbagai universitas di Indonesia, namun hanya 15 tim yang akan terpilih sebagai semifinalis. Walaupun setiap universitas dapat mengirimkan lima tim perwakilan, President University hanya mengirimkan satu. Jessica Meilina, Kelvin, dan Tantyo Edo menciptakan tim mereka sendiri yang bernama "The Nine Values" dengan persetujuan dari Ir. Andira Taslin, M. Kepala Program Studi Teknik Industri President University.

Rangkaian acara ini berlangsung selama empat hari mulai dari tanggal 11 s/d 14 Juli 2017, yang meliputi; semifinal 1 dan 2, presentasi semifinal, gala dinner, pengumuman Top Five, kunjungan Top Five ke perusahaan PT. Astra Honda Motor Plant 3 Cikarang, pengerjaan studi kasus terakhir, presentasi akhir, dan pengumuman pemenang.

Tantyo Edo, salah satu anggota tim Nine Values menjelaskan bahwa setelah mereka mengikuti event ini, mereka percaya bahwa Program Studi Teknik Industri President University dapat bersaing dalam segi materi pelajaran dengan universitas ternama lainnya di indonesia. Namun ia juga mengakui sebagai mahasiswa tahun kedua, mereka harus mendalami lebih jauh materi-materi yang diberikan untuk semester yang lebih tinggi agar dapat bersaing dengan perwakilan dari universitas lainnya yang kebanyakan merupakan mahasiswa tahun ke-3 dan ke-4.

“Kami berharap agar fasilitas pendukung Teknik Industri President University dapat terus ditingkatkan kualitasnya dan agar metode pembelajarannya lebih ditekankan pada kegiatan praktek dengan menggunakan aplikasi-aplikasi yang modern”, ujar Edo. (YE)
