Surabaya, Indonesia—President University successfully wins three spots in the Paper Competition “INSTHINK (Innovative & Strategic of Business Seeking) UBAYA 2017” themed “Big Push to World Class Tourism” that was held in Universitas Surabaya (26/5). President University sent three team consist of two and won the first, second, and fourth place in the competition while the third place won by Universitas Brawijaya.

Anastasia Purwanti and Ilham Saumi with the paper “An Analysis of Lombok Destination Image as Halal Tourism toward Visit Decision” won the first place. Meanwhile, Kevin Pratama Jaya and Aris Akbar secured the second place by a paper titled “An Assessment of Tourist Satisfaction while Visiting World Cultural Heritage Site in Order to Improve Tourism Competitiveness (A Study Case of Borobudur Temple 2017). Nurul Isti and Ghilmansyah Amri with “Analyzing of Marketing Strategy Formulation in Indonesia Travel and Tourism Competitive Index Advantages” secured the fourth place. All of them are from Management Study Programme batch 2013 and are the best in Research Methodology class.

Each team needs to submit their research paper related to tourism in the elimination round. There were eight team chosen to compete in the final session, presenting their research papers in front of the judges.  

“Our paper focus on the need of image building of Lombok as World’s Best Halal Destination 2016, specially with the rapid growth of Moslem population that is predicted could dominate world population in 2050 (according to PEW Research Center)”, said Anastasia.

Management Study Progamme has had specific preparations on this competition by giving intensive guidance on the research method and presentation simulation.

“I targeted at least one team to win the competition, but we still prepare everything in the hope that all of the team could win. We are grateful to be able to win three spots in this competition. This is the first time in such competition three team from one university become the winner, usually the maximum amount is just two”, said Dr. Dra. Genoveva, M.M, Head of Management Study Programme.

After securing many victories in the national level, President University aims to win the international competition.

“I hope fellow PresUnivers especially in Management Study Programme could achieve more victory in the future, so it will bring a good reputation for the University”, stated Anastasia. (SL)
